BellamyBellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young; February 19, 1970)[1She is an American actress, producer and singer. She is best known for her portrayal of Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama show Scandal (2012-2018). In 2014, the Critics' Choice Television awarded her the best Supporting Actress Award for a Drama Series. The actress also appeared in the Fox series Prodigal Son (2019-2021). Young started her career as an actor in theatre. Young made her Broadway debut in the year 1997 as Mary in The Life's original lineup. The actress has played off Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's musical Merrily We Roll Along (1994) and in Randy Newman's Faust (1995-1996). [3][10] She first appeared on TV in the year 1995 when she played the character Dr. Courtney Evans, in a recurring part in the NBC soap opera Another World. Between 1997 and 1998,, she guest starred in two roles on Law & Order. Her film debut was in 1999 , when she appeared as an important role in the the crime thriller Black and White. In the following years, she starred in other independent movies. Around the turn of the century, she began appearing on a variety of drama and comedy television shows, such as The Drew Carey Show and The X Files. Young is known to have made over thirty appearances on television shows from 2000 to 2011.
